5 Reasons we’re Watching ‘Being Mary Jane’

19 Oct, 2015

There was a collective gasp at the end of the Being Mary Jane’s season 2 finale when lead character Mary Jane Paul (MJ) played by Gabrielle Union was involved in a traffic accident after learning details about the relationship between her best friend Lisa (Latarsha Rose) and on-again, off-again love interest David (Stephen Bishop).

Of course this is unintentional news and comes at a time in MJ’s life where the cable news anchor is celebrating a promotion at work and moving on from yet another failed relationship.

The audience won’t have to wait long to find out what happens next as the show’s creator Mara Brock Akil starts season 3 exactly where season 2 dropped us off. The 10-episode series will start at a new time of 9/8c and as The Trending Report learned season 3 will give us an explosive look at the family dynamics, relationships and oftentimes unexpected circumstances that hold MJ together when she needs it most.

5 Things We Know About ‘Being Mary Jane’ Season 3

  • The Secret’s Out: Details emerge about Lisa and David’s relationship and it’s not just MJ who knows. Fans will see how MJ’s family reacts to the news.
  • Loretta Devine: Devine will guest star as Cecilia. Cecilia is in the car MJ hit at the end of season 2 and it’s not a simple ‘here’s my insurance card’ ending. Cecilia who owns a bookstore, will extort MJ for $25,000. The pages will turn later in the season when the two unexpectedly grow close and Cecilia gives MJ advice she can’t help but take seriously.
  • Jill Scott: Jill Scott is Niecy’s (Raven Goodwin) mom. Scott appears on the show long enough to give her daughter the tough love she needs and the sexual attention Patrick’s been missing.
  • While You Were Away: As MJ recovers, the anchor seat if filled by a beautiful, young Latina who shines as her replacement. Drama is sure to ensue when MJ returns to claim her position.
  • Just when you think MJ is out of the woods a family tragedy will shake things up again.

The Trending Report talked with Stephen Bishop about his role on Being Mary Jane and what he thinks will happen between him and MJ. Here’s what he told us. http://thetrendingreport.com/stephen-bishop-on-being-mary-janes-muse/
