Chicago Bears Host Comedy Show to Benefit Charity

30 Jan, 2013

Bears don’t usually travel in packs but in the case of Jerry Azumah and Israel Idonije an exception was made to focus on philanthropy.  The former All-Pro Chicago Bear Defensive back teamed up with Idonije to host a comedy showcase to benefit their respective charitable organizations.

The Laugh Out Loud comedy showcase transformed Untitled from a restaurant and lounge into a Hollywood comedy club where laughs were plentiful and rib-holding was the common theme.  The boisterous crowd enjoyed a diverse group of 8 comedians including Chicago’s Top comics Leon Rogers, Damon Williams and Tony Scolfied. Along with Brian Babylon and Erica Clark from ‘TBS Just for Laughs’ fame and several hilarious others.

The unanimous laughter paled in comparison to the reason behind the stand-up. All of the proceeds went directly to Azumah’s ASAP Foundation that supplies scholarships to disadvantaged students and the Israel Idonije Foundation that provides programs that focus on social and emotional life skills.

The spirit of giving went beyond simply attending the show when a raffle winner donated his $900 prize back to the organizations.

In a room filled with athletes and Chicago’s movers and shakers, the spirit of giving reigned supreme.  Click the link to both charities below to learn how you can contribute.
