Chicago Radio Will Never Be The Same, RIP Doug Banks

11 Apr, 2016

Legendary Chicago radio host Doug Banks has died. The voice of V103’s afternoon drive was a soothing voice that we all have grown with and now will have to find a way to live without.

The Nationally syndicated radio host was 57.

Banks, born in Philadelphia and raised in Detroit, began his career as an on-air personality in high school. After landing a gig at a local radio station, the legend was born.

His aspirations took him to Los Angeles, where he worked at KDAY for several years. Over his time in the West Coast, he worked for KLAV-AM at Las Vegas and KDIA-AM in San Francisco.

His travels brought him to  to Chicago, where he connected with WBMX (Now WVAZ).

In Chicago, he spent 1986 through 1994 at both WVAZ and WGCI.

He hit it big with  “The Doug Banks Morning Show” hosted by Banks and DeDe McGuire. After two years, Doug later launched his new afternoon show on V103, which has been top-rated since its 2008 debut.

Banks leaves a legacy that has inspired, uplifted and left us all feeling a little bit better.

Rest In Paradise Doug, until we meet again.
