Designer Jason Wu Launches Miss Wu at Nordstrom

16 Jan, 2013

Jason Wu has done it again.  For the second time, First Lady Michelle Obama chose a gown by designer Jason Wu to celebrate the inaugural ball. This year, Mrs. Obama glowed in a custom-made ruby red chiffon and velvet halter that flowed as her and the President celebrated in dance.

A nice follow-up to the white, one-shoulder column gown chosen for the 2009 inaugural balls that skyrocketed Wu’s career.  Now a household name, the designer has launched a contemporary collection for the Spring-Summer season entitled Miss Wu.

The line that debuted at 49 Nordstrom locations, has been described as having “a relaxed downtown attitude with the spirit of a modern but strong gamine.”  It features seasonal purses, clothing and shoes with a price tag from $195 to $795.

Teaming with Vanity Fair, Nordstrom spared no expense for the designer’s contemporary line launch.

Sheer white drapery surrounded an area of the store making the event exclusive to those who made the list.

Once past the check-in, guests entered the world of Jason Wu.

Live models showcased clothing from the line that features timeless pieces from striped sweaters and khaki to biker jackets and leather skirts. Music flowed from the DJ booth that was covered in white flowers.

Colorful macaroons were passed as guests sipped their choice of champagne inspired cocktails.
