Did You Really Think Mike Ditka Would Say Something Different?

Da coach is in denial

Legendary Bears coach Mike Ditka said Friday that he doesn’t “see all the atrocities going on in this country that people say are going on,” his callous remarks coming at the end of a week that saw two highly publicized police-involved shooting deaths.

Ditka was asked by Dallas sports-talk hosts Shan & RJ on 105.3 The FAN what he thought of Colin Kaepernick, and the exiled ESPN personality took off on the 49ers quarterback and NFL players who have joined his protest movement.

“I think it’s a problem. … anybody who disrespects this country and the flag” Ditka said. “If they don’t like the country they don’t like our flag. … get the hell out.”

“I have no respect for Colin Kaepernick – he probably has no respect for me, that’s his choice” the 76-year-old Ditka said. “My choice is, I like this country, I respect our flag, and I don’t see all the atrocities going on in this country that people say are going on.”

Two black men, Terence Crutcher and Keith Lamont Scott, were killed by police in Kansas City and Charlotte, respectively, this week — the latter prompting days of protests in North Carolina’s largest city.

No one said it happened, Mike — it happened.
