The way people spend their time in most countries differ from others and this is mainly due to the economic performance of that particular country, free time available, financial status of the individuals, culture, national interest of the population such as a particular sport, leisure activity or event, and trends. In a study conducted by Ofcom it has been reported that the average amount of time Britons spend watching T.V each day is nearly 4 hours which is more than the combined time spent on smartphones, the internet and landlines. T.V programs watched are mainly drama, light entertainment, films, documentaries, news, sports and other programs. Communications regulator Ofcom also found that Britons spend nearly 9 hours daily on media devices such as T.V sets, smartphones, landlines, laptops, tablets, radios, stereo systems, etc. which is more than the average time spent to sleep daily. The young generation have been found to have an advanced understanding of technology devices, with kids as young as 5 or 6 years old having the same level of knowledge on gadgets as would an adult. The techie teens are a media-savvy crowd in UK who spend more of their time tuning to YouTube to stream their favourite music and other entertainment programs online. Media apps such as Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Snapchat and Instagram has become an integral part of the life of the current generation in the UK.

Gambling hold a top position in the favourite pastime of the Britons. There has been a boom in the gambling industry in Britain a few years and this trend does not seen to be fading out.
