Here’s Something Bears Fans Can Be Proud Of

16 Dec, 2014

This holiday season Bears middle linebacker D.J. Williams is doing his part in spreading holiday cheer to Chicago’s youth. Through his charity foundation, Home Team Closet, Williams’ donates clothing to those in need.

“I’m a Nike athlete who’s been in the NFL for 11 years.” Williams tells The Trending Report. “I’d have closets full of clothes that were never worn-some with the tags still on them.”

“My mother suggested putting bins in locker rooms with the thought that my teammates were having the same issues and to encourage others to donate their clothing as well.”

William’s found support when implementing the idea in the locker room of the Chicago Bears. With the participation of Tim Jennings and DJ Williams and Kids with his charity Brandon Marshall, 500 items were donated to jumpstart his first charity event.

After 15 kids between the ages of 14 and 19 got the opportunity to spend the day with Chicago’s elite, they viewed a video recording of the inside of an athlete’s closet that allowed students to “shop” for the items they wanted.

Williams’ recalls an 18-year-old participant who‘d just started to interview for jobs. “We were able to get him a lot of good shirts.”

William’s goal is to have a donation bin in every professional sports locker room. He’s off to a great start.

In addition to his philanthropic efforts Williams is expressing his passion for fashion with Dyme Lyfe clothing. It is an acronym for “Do You Motivate and Emulate.” Check out his line for men and women here www.dymelyfe.com and let us know what you think.
