Active and Military Veterans See ‘White House Down’ Free July 4th

04 Jul, 2013

LOS ANGELES – Columbia Pictures is teaming with several theater chains to allow active military personnel and veterans to see “White House Down” for free on July 4 with a guest.

Participating theater chains include Regal Entertainment Group, AMC Theatres, Cinemark Theatres and Carmike Cinemas.

The offer is Sony’s way of thanking America’s troops for their sacrifice and service. The giveaway is available Thursday only on a first-come, first-served basis with a proper military ID. Each military attendee is allowed one guest.

“We think ‘White House Down’ is the summer’s best action movie, so on July 4th, we’re inviting all active duty and veteran military personnel to bring a guest and see it for free. It’s a great way to celebrate the holiday and to honor and thank the troops for their service to our country,” said Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution for Sony.

Directed by Roland Emmerich, “White House Down” stars Channing Tatum as a military veteran who must protect the President (Jamie Foxx) when a heavily-armed paramilitary group takes over the White House.
