Yahoo Finance, Donald Trump and the Nigger Navy

Yahoo Finance makes the first big social media blunder of 2017. Just after 8:00pm EST the account tweeted “Trump wants a much nigger navy: Here’s how much it’ll cost.” A link to a story on President Elect Donald Trump’s plans to enlarge America’s navy was included in the tweet. The tweet was meant to read ‘bigger navy.’

The reaction to the misspelling was immediate and prompted several trending topics worldwide including “Black Twitter”  “USS Lemon Pepper,” “USS Hennessy” and “Knuck If You Buck,” showing that African Americans recognized the blunder as a mistake and triumphed using comedy.

Yahoo Finance has apologized for the “spelling error.”
