Sloane Stephens Wants Your Photos, For a Good Cause

16 May, 2013

Although Sloane Stephens has been playing tennis for most of her life, the 17th ranked player gained national fame after beating number 1 ranked Serena Williams at the Australian Open earlier this year.  Stephens spoke with The Trending Report about her partnership with Johnson and Johnson’s Donate a Photo campaign.

The campaign turns your mobile device photos into money for charity.  For every picture you donate, Johnson and Johnson will donate $1 to the charity of your choice.Slone stephens

With the threat of injury ever-present on the minds of athletes, Stephens’ chose to work with Safe Kids Worldwide, an organization that helps teach kids, parents and coaches how to protect against sports injuries.

Stephens told The Trending Report she chose the organization because of personal experiences.  “My brother has broken both of his arms playing sports,” Sloane said.  “It’s real.  Kids get injured playing sports and it affects a lot of people.”

To drive the point home, the first picture Sloane donated was of her wearing a helmet at 5-years-old. Donating photos are easy. Here’s how it works:

Log on to healthyessentials.com/our-caring and download the application that’s available on IOS or Android devices. Choose the cause of your choice then upload or “donate” a photo.  That’s it! You can also share your donated picture on Facebook & Twitter to encourage others to participate. You’re allowed to donate one photo a day.

When a charity reaches its goal, another is added to take its place. The charity that’s reached its goal still appears on the app so users can continue to learn about the organization and view the pictures that supported it. Donations have to be made through a mobile device but the photo gallery and the progress of the charities can be seen by anyone on any device.

Which charity will your photos help?
