JRW Kids Lose Title and The Adults Should be Ashamed

My very first sound off for The Trending Report and of course it has to deal with the latest developments of the Jackie Robinson West Little League controversy. The JRW Allstar team that captured hearts this past summer will be stripped of the U.S. Championship title because apparently some of the kids on the team do not live in the designated boundaries required to be a player in the JRW League.

First, I must disclose that I am a former little league cheerleader for JRW so my heart was extremely vested in this team.

That being said…SERIOUSLY?? This is what someone spends months of their time doing.

It was reported earlier that the map was expanded in order to include some members of the team and the claims of unethically stacking the roster were supposed to be thrown out. BUT NOOOO…someone continued to prod and now these young men and their magnificent achievements will be tarnished!

If it was one thing the city of Chicago needed during that time was the spirit that these boys brought into our lives.

I don’t know for sure, but I’ve got to wonder if these young men were not ALL African American, would their legitimacy even been questioned? If they did not receive all of the wonderful accolades from winning, would this have been an issue? If they didn’t win hundreds of thousands of hearts around the ENTIRE UNITED STATES, would this even have been a story??

I hope the Las Vegas team is on the up and up because they should certainly be looked at as well.

Last thing…them meeting President Obama…traveling the country…taking vacations… seeing masses of people come out to celebrate them…and the electrifying excitement of watching them play can never be taken away. And I’m grateful for that!
