Kanye to Adidas….What about the Air Yeezy’s?

27 Nov, 2013

Kanye West addressed rumors that he is leaving Nike and signed a deal with Adidas.

During his recent concert at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, he denounced Nike’s business practices, citing that he needed royalties for his work. Driven by his super successful Air Yeezy series of sneakers, West was seeking a deal much like Michael Jordan’s where he receives royalties from the sales of Jordan Brand shoes.
On the Angie Martinez radio show West stated, “The old me, without a daughter, would have taken the Nike deal because I just love Nikes so much. But the new me, with a daughter, takes the Adidas deal because I have royalties and I have to provide for my family.”

Along with a rich history in hip hop, think Run-DMC, Adidas has had success working with designers like Yohji Yamamoto,  Y-3 collection, and collaborations with the likes of Kazuki Kuraishi, Takahiro Miyashita, Jeremy Scott, and Mark McNairy.

Only time will tell what a Kanye adidas collab will look like and if I will ever get a pair of Red Octobers?!
