Details of Lambert’s role have yet to be released, and it is not known whether he’ll be appearing in a guest, recurring or series regular role.
The singer won’t be the first “Idol” alum to appear on “Glee” – Season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez had a multi-episode arc (playing star singer Frida Romero at a rival glee club) last season.
In related “Glee” news, four main cast members are leaving the show.
Heather Morris, Mark Salling, Amber Riley and Harry Shum Jr. will not return for Season 5 as series regulars, but may make occasional guest appearances.
“Glee” returns with its Season 5 premiere on Thursday, September 19 at 9 PM on Fox.
