Kevin Hart Challenging Hollywood To Help Out
30 Aug, 2017
Comedian Kevin Hart took a serious tone in an Instagram video Sunday night, challenging his celebrity friends to donate money to those affected by Harvey.
The storm was a Category 4 hurricane when it first reached the southeastern Texas coast Friday, and FEMA Administrator Brock Long estimates upwards of 30,000 people might need to seek shelters as a result of the flooding.
“I’ve just been caught up to speed on everything that’s going on in Houston with Hurricane Harvey, and this (expletive) is unbelievable,” Hart said in the NSFW video. “I think we’ve participated in a lot of challenges on the Internet — some meaningful, some meaningless, but we’ve all done ’em.”
“At this point, I’m going to start a real challenge,” the I Can’t Make This Up author continued. “I’m challenging a lot of my celebrity friends to follow my lead in donating $25,000 to Hurricane Harvey — to the Red Cross. At this point, this a serious matter. I think that people are in bad shape and they need help.”
Hart then named his pals with star-power who he hoped would follow in his generous footsteps.
“I challenge The Rock, Steve Harvey, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, JAY-Z, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Jerry Seinfeld,” he said, “and I think when you do it you all should tag somebody else. $25,000 is coming from me. Prayers go out to Houston.”
After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Rock traveled to Houston and volunteered at a food bank. With Sean “Diddy” Combs, JAY-Z pledged $1 million to the American Red Cross, according to The Associated Press.
