Empire Season 3 is Going to Be Lit

Fans have been yearning for Fox’s explosive series Empire to return since the Season 2 finale ended with the cliffhanger of Rhonda, Anika or both women falling over the ledge of a high-rise building. The fight began after Rhonda remembered that it was Anika who pushed her down a flight of stairs and caused her to lose her baby. In retaliation, Rhonda found Anika, who is currently pregnant with Hakeem’s baby, on a rooftop, and confronted her.

It has already been confirmed that one of the women has died from the fall although show executives have not released which character. We do know that the new season picks up exactly where it left off which means questions will be answered soon. Although according to series insiders, a lot more questions will arise.

Season 3 continues to raise the suspense in its September 21st debut as the Lyons family deals with its past while it prepares for its future. We’ve broken down the story lines of your favorite television family and detailed below everything we know about the upcoming season.

Andre Lyon (Trai Byers) – Possibly dealing with the loss of his wife in Season 3, Dre will become closer with his grandmother, Leah. Both characters have a mental illness, which draws Andre to Leah even further.

Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) – Jamal is forced to see a counselor to deal with PTSD after being shot by Freda Gatz but things take a turn as their relationship becomes more romantic than professional.

Hakeem Lyon (Bryshere Gray) – After being left at the alter, Hakeem will try to rebound in true Lyon fashion…with another woman. He turns to his ex-girlfriend, Tiana (Serayah McNeil) , but she’s moved on and is in a relationship with rival rapper Gram who will be played by Romeo Miller.

Cookie and Lucious Lyon (Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard) – Season 3 will go deeper into their relationship and their past. Flashbacks to a teenage Cookie and Lucious will be seen, and fans will find out that Cookie had a choice to be with an outstanding young man, but fell in love with Lucious and chose him instead.

Speculation leans towards this character being Taye Diggs who was recently added to the show. Veteran actress Phylicia Rashad will also join the cast as Diggs’ mother. Musical appearances include Mariah Carey, Birdman, French Montana, Xzibit and Biz Markie. Ne-Yo and Rodney Jerkins who replaced Timberland will continue on as part of the musical team.
