Hebru Brantley Brings Penny Candy to Chicago
03 Aug, 2013
Art and music collides at Chicago artist Hebru Brantley’s Lollapalooza pop up shop, Penny Candy , this weekend.
With its big windows and music streaming onto the downtown streets, the electric atmosphere welcomed a diverse crowd ranging from college students and families to any inquisitive person who happened to be in the area. Once inside, the crowd stayed to view exclusive pieces from Hebru whose work has been purchased by the likes of Jay-Z, Lupe Fiasco and Lil Wayne.
Penny Candy shattered the standard notion of the art gallery experience and ushered in a fresh way to enjoy arts and fashion. Conversations on hip-hop mixed with the sounds of the DJ. The old neighborhood videogame king resurrected his throne at the games placed strategically throughout the space. People sipped on Red Bull and purchased art and clothing that spoke directly to them and The Trending Report was there for it all. Check out the pictures here.
