While You’re Hating on LeBron, He is Doing This
16 Dec, 2015
Aaron Miller is a Special Olympian. On Tuesday, at halftime of the Cleveland Cavaliers 89-77 win over the Boston Celtics at the Garden, Miller was recognized for the MVP award at the city’s recent Special Olympics competition. LeBron James decided he wanted to take things a step further, and took time out during the game to run to the sideline and acknowledge Miller personally. You know, give him props. From one MVP to another.
What made this all so perfect is the look of pure delight on Miller’s face when he realized that James didn’t come over looking for anyone but him.
“I wasn’t able to hear the whole story because I was actually in the game and Coach was drawing up a play,” James said. “But I looked up at the Jumbotron and seen what he had been through and where he is now, and I think the doctor said he would never walk again or talk again or something like that. I looked up there and I just . . . this game is so much more than basketball. Also, I seen he had my shoes on. I designed those shoes for kids with conditions where they’re not able to tie their own shoestrings, and he had a pair on.”
The Nikes that James described essentially open at the heel and can be fastened with a large Velcro strap. And after the game, Miller got one more pair of Nikes — the ones that James wore during the game.
Aaron Miller is awesome, LeBron James is awesome, and shoes are kind of awesome, too. This is your periodic reminder that stuff– and people – can be pretty awesome sometimes.
