And Your 2018 Most Admired Woman Is…..
27 Dec, 2018
Michelle Obama is the most admired woman among Americans, according to a poll by Gallup. The 2018 poll marks the first time in 17 years that Hillary Clinton did not top the list.
The annual survey asks men and women across the country to name the woman and man that they admire most.
Obama has finished second to Clinton three times in previous years. Obama received 15 percent of the votes, while Oprah Winfrey came in second with five percent of the votes. Clinton tied with Melania Trump as the third and fourth most admired women, each with four percent of the votes. Queen Elizabeth, Angela Merkel, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Ellen DeGeneres, Nikki Haley, Malala Yousafzai and Nancy Pelosi round out the list for the most admired women.
Winfrey appeared on the list for the 31st time, while the 2018 poll marks Clinton’s 27th appearance. Clinton has finished first 22 times, though the most recent poll is the first time she has been third on the list.
Gallup attributed Obama’s top spot to the success of her book, Becoming, and its promotional tour.
Meanwhile, Barack Obama topped the men’s list with 19 percent of the votes. Donald Trump followed with 13 percent. Other men included on the list are George W. Bush, Pope Francis, Bill Gates, Bernie Sanders, Bill Clinton, the Dalai Lama, Joe Biden, Elon Musk and Mike Pence. Obama’s standing marks the 11th time that he has topped the list.
