Bill and Giuliana Rancic Welcome Baby Boy
31 Aug, 2012
TV personality Giuliana Rancic and her husband, Bill Rancic, welcomed a healthy baby boy via surrogate late Wednesday night.
“The ‘Duke’ has landed,” Bill, 41, wrote on Twitter Thursday morning. “Edward Duke Rancic was welcomed into the world last night at 7 lbs 4 oz & I feel blessed beyond words … we did it!”
After years of failed IVF treatments and being unable to conceive — struggles documented on their reality show, “Guiliana and Bill” — the couple announced in April that they were expecting their first child.
The baby was born by a gestational surrogate, meaning the Rancics are his biological parents.
Edward was born at 10:12 p.m. in Denver, E! News reports.
“Bill and I are blessed beyond words to welcome Edward into our lives,” Guiliana, 37, told E! News, for which she is an anchor. “Thank you so much to everyone who supported us along the way. We are so in love with the little guy already.”
Guiliana underwent a double mastectomy last December after being diagnosed with breast cancer. The TV host has been open about her struggle with cancer as well as her problems conceiving, including a miscarriage in October 2011, eight weeks into her first pregnancy via IFV treatments.
