Craig Sager’s Cancer is Back and It Doesn’t Look Good

23 Mar, 2016

With a Real Sports special set to air on HBO Tuesday night, more light has been shed on Turner Sports sideline reporter Craig Sager’s battle with leukemia. Doctors have told Sager that he has three to six months to live.

It’s a crushing prognosis, but Sager intends to keep fighting to the end.

Sports Illustrated’s Ben Golliver tweeted a new transcript from the interview, and Sager asked the doctors point blank how much time he had to live.

We learned Monday that Sager’s leukemia was no longer in remission. It’s always tough when a doctor puts a timeframe on a life, and the entire sports community will undoubtedly root for Sager in this fight.

Sager told HBO that his battle with cancer was entering “uncharted waters.”

Sager’s son, Craig Sager Jr., has been by his father’s side throughout his fight with cancer. He was present during HBO’s filming.
