Luke James Makes His Acting Debut in Holiday Film ‘Black Nativity’

28 Nov, 2013

Before we fell in love with his falsetto in the Grammy nominated hit “I Want You,” we were well acquainted with his lyrics.  Credited for writing songs for the likes of Britney Spears (Kill the Lights), Justin Bieber (That Should Be Me) and Chris Brown (Crawl), James is rapidly making a name for himself in the forefront of the music industry.

Hand selected by Beyonce to open her European and North American world tour, this 29-year-old New Orleans native is learning all he can and taking it in stride.  “What I’ve learned from both Beyonce and Jay Z” James tells The Trending Report, is “to stand on your art, never waiver and work hard.” Lessons James is taking to heart.

In his big screen debut James finds himself working alongside movie heavy weights including Forest Whitaker, Angela Bassett, Jennifer Hudson and Tyrese whom black nativity he sang background for in the beginning stages of his career.

Based on a Langston Hughes play, James is featured in Black Nativity as JoJo, a homeless man that’s expecting a child with his girlfriend, Maria. “The movie is about redemption and love and reality to dream.  It’s a little trippy but it’s great. It has a great message,” James shared in another interview.

Between music and movies James takes advantage of his spare time by enjoying the world around him with friends and loved ones and enjoying his playlist whose range of artists includes Kendrick Lamar, Zero 7, James Blake and Nina Simone.  He hasn’t found that special someone yet but he knows what he’s looking for. “Someone that makes me feel good, who wants to live life to the fullest.” James said, I want someone who is “sensual, sexy and comfortable with who she is.”
