Tiger Woods Keeps Making History

27 Oct, 2019

Tiger Woods added to his legend Monday morning in Japan.

He closed out a win in the rain-delayed Zozo Championship in Chiba. It was his 82nd victory on the PGA Tour, tying him with Sam Snead for the most in Tour history.

“It’s just crazy. It’s a lot,” Woods told Golf Channel right after 18.

Woods, 43, was returning to competitive golf after a surgical procedure on his knee. He said he appreciates being able to move around on the course.

“Physically I can’t do any of the things I used to,” he said. “But I can think my way around the golf course.”

Woods (19-under 261 for the tournament) played the last seven holes of his final round Monday in 1 under par, which was good enough to defeat Hideki Matsuyama by three strokes. Woods played 29 holes on Sunday in Chiba as the Tour tried to make up for a washout earlier in the week. He resumed his fourth round on the 12th hole at Accordia Golf Narashino CC.

Woods held or shared the lead all five days of the event.

“Five days at the top of the board is a long time, and it’s stressful,” he said.
