Dwyane Wade Introduces The WADE Brand

Dwyane Wade was introduced as the latest member of the Li-Ning family on Wednesday in a press event in Beijing.

Wade, who is in town for a pair of exhibition games against the Los Angeles Clippers for the 2012 NBA China Games, was given the red carpet treatment as he walked side by side with Li-Ning founder Mr. Li-Ning. The pair then dished out some interesting details as to how the partnership will work.

During the event, Li-Ning announced the creation of a separate entity called WADE. The WADE brand would act similarly to the relationship Nike and Jordan Brand share; Dwyane Wade would oversee the eponymous product as the Chief Brand Officer and all WADE products, from footwear to apparel, would apparently be free of any Li-Ning iconography.

Along with getting a sizable salary for his services, Wade will receive an equity stake in Li-Ning.

While the first set of WADE gear would be available in China “soon,” the US will have to until early 2013 to get their hands on the WADE product.

First among them will be his signature shoe the WADE Way of Wade, which will retail in the $125.00 range. After the press event, Wade headed off to practice with the Miami Heat, which include current teammate but former Jordan Brand associate Ray Allen, and debuted a “All Black Everything” colorway.

When the Heat take on the Clippers, Wade will rock his “Home” and “Away” colorways of the shoe, which will then be auctioned off charity.
