Michelle Obama Gets Candid with Oprah in Final White House Interview

18 Dec, 2016

Michelle Obama talked candidly with Oprah Winfrey in what will be her last one-on-one interview at the White House. Mrs. Obama talked openly about the challenges she faced during Barack Obama’s administration including being labeled an ‘angry black woman.’

“I was like…you don’t even know me! Color, wealth, these things that don’t matter still play too much of a role in how we see one another,” the 52-year-old first lady shares. “It’s sad, because the thing that least defines us as people is the color of our skin.”

The First Lady also discussed in detail the tone of Barack Obama’s presidency and the future of the state of America, all without mentioning president-elect Donald Trump’s name. “We feel the difference now,” she says. “We’re feeling what not having hope feels like. Hope is necessary. It’s a necessary concept.”

The interview is scheduled to air Monday, December 19th t 9/8c and rebroadcast on OWN, Wednesday, December 21st.
