Calvin Harris, Jay Z & Will Smith are Coming to HBO
27 Jan, 2014
It has been confirmed! Calvin Harris, Jay Z and Will Smith are joining forces with Irvine Welsh to create an HBO comedy about EDM.
According to an official statement:
The pitch for the new series, set in a fictional world of electronic music was developed with the help of Scottish DJ and producer Calvin Harris. The show has been bought by HBO and is currently in development with the pilot being penned by critically acclaimed “Trainspotting” author Irvine Welsh.
Along with wife Jada Pinkett, Smith will serve as executive producer with Jay Z, both of whom are also linked to the forthcoming Annie remake. Higher, however, is just the latest on-screen EDM tribute we’ve heard about in the past year, with Diplo’s forthcoming film, which is apparently gunning for “Eminem and Christopher Walken at a Manchester rave”, also in the making.
So is the world ready for Calvin’s Comedy? Could they call it that? What’s funny about EDM?
