‘Peanut’ Tillman Running for the Kids

14 Mar, 2014

Chicago Bears star Charles ‘Peanut Tillman hosted the inaugural ‘Charles Tillman 5K Run/Walk’ to benefit the Cornerstone Foundation. Despite the windy 20 degree Chicago weather, fans came out to support ‘Peanut’.

The 2013 ‘NFL Man of the Year’ and his wife Jackie created the foundation to provide opportunities and resources to children and their families who are in need. After Tillman’s three-month-old daughter, Tiana, was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy and received a life-saving heart transplant in 2008, the Cornerstone Foundation changed its mission to improving the lives of critically and chronically ill children.

About 600 brave runners faced the windy weather conditions to participate in the 5k on the shores of Lake Michigan. Runners donned Tillman jerseys and other colorful outfits for this great cause.

After the race concluded participants were invited inside Soldier Field for photos, autographs and prizes raffled of by Tillman and some lucky young fans. Tillman received a special autographed football from some of the very children his Cornerstone Foundation had the privilege of helping.

Tillman took the time to give special thanks to the Bears fans that have supported him and his efforts over the years. Although he isn’t sure what city he will play in next, Chi-town will always love this Bear.
