Rookies To Watch In 2015 Fantasy Football

07 Aug, 2015

Teams seem to really trust rookies these days, as we are seeing more and more guys make instant impacts at key positions. Just last year, Odell Beckham Jr. became one of the best wide receivers in the game by December. There is definitely some talent in this year’s rookie class, but some stand out more than others. Here’s a look at the five top ones to watch.

Melvin Gordon

Gordon was the second running back taken in the 2015 NFL draft, but he tops this list for the upcoming year. He is a running back who is going to be coming into a pretty good situation playing for the San Diego Chargers. Not only will he get plenty of touches from the very beginning, but his durability in college shows that he will be around for a while. Since he is a rookie, you might be able to get him at a bit of a discount in weekly fantasy football leagues.

Todd Gurley

People still project Gurley as the best running back in the class, but this year is all about making sure that he gets back to 100% after going through a serious knee injury in college. The St. Louis Rams have high expectations for him, but until he is ready to take over the load, they might give Tre Mason a few too many touches.

Amari Cooper

The Oakland Raiders need playmakers, so they went after a guy they thought was the best wide receiver in the draft. It was pretty loaded with top-tier talent, but Cooper looks like a difference maker now. As a receiver, he could have Beckham-level breakout talent if they use him correctly.

Kevin White

Injury issues could be scaring some people, but the Chicago Bears still think he’ll have a great rookie year. He is someone who is a matchup nightmare, and Jay Cutler needs somebody to replace Brandon Marshall. Look for him to get enough targets to be an intriguing pickup. He will also likely get better as the season goes along.

Breshad Perriman

Perriman was a fast riser coming out of UCF, and some wondered if the Baltimore Ravens reached on him a little bit. Joe Flacco needs fast and athletic guys to throw the ball to, and he certainly fits that mold. Can he haul in enough passes to make him worthwhile in weekly fantasy football leagues? Yes, as long as you don’t draft him too early.
