Why We Will Always Love Big Poppa

09 Mar, 2013

It has been 16 years since rap legend the Notorious B.I.G was murdered in the streets of Los Angeles. His unsolved murder not only left a void in hip hop, it keeps the the healthy distrust of the Los Angeles police department alive and well. The Chris Dorner saga is the latest evidence of this.

The King of New York title has been fought over, won and lost. The designation of the G.O.A.T has been the subject of many late night debates and Biggie had just two albums, while he was alive, to serve as evidence for this honor.

Days like this remind us of why we have strong bonds with our favorite music and why artist are so beloved. Christopher Wallace’s musical creations serve as the soundtrack to many of our lives. For me it takes me back to the good old days of college life. Stress free, experimenting with drugs and alcohol and going through early adversity that helped shape my character.

Time, as the old saying goes, waits for no man. Hip-Hop has moved on. However we at The Trending Report take this time to pause and reflect on why ‘We will always love Big Poppa.’

Rest in Paradise playboy!
