Watch the Throne, Here Comes Taraji P. Henson
21 Jan, 2015
Academy Award nominated actress Taraji P. Henson returns to the small screen with a bang playing the feisty and charismatic Cookie Lyon in FOX’s hit series Empire.
Empire exploded on the scene with a pilot that scored FOX the highest premiere numbers the network has seen in three years. Needless to say, they’ve already greenlighted season 2.
We’ve seen the range of Henson’s acting skills in big screen roles from Baby Boy and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button to leading television roles in series including Person of Interest, Boston Legal and The Division. Empire transforms the Howard University graduate into a take-no-mess mother whose recent release from prison changes the landscape of a thriving music company that’s ran by her ex-husband Lucious Lyon played by Terrence Howard.
The plot thickens with the revelation that the company was started with drug money provided by Cookie and she has no intention of not getting her due. As if that wasn’t enough, due to a secret medical diagnosis, Lucious’ time is numbered. As a result, he puts their three children in a bout against each other- fighting for a company some may not know they want.
Since we never know what Cookie will say or do, The Trending Report wanted to take fans on a trip down memory lane. Enjoy as we take you through the evolution of Ms. Taraji P. Henson.
