It Wouldn’t Be An NBA Season If the Cavs Weren’t Crying About Something
23 Jan, 2018
Several Cavaliers were upset with Kevin Love for leaving The Q to go home during the team’s 148-124 loss to Oklahoma City Saturday and skipping practice Sunday for an illness, sources told cleveland.com.
ESPN reported that players confronted Love about it before practice on Monday. Two sources confirmed the team meeting to cleveland.com, and on Sunday cleveland.com reported that Love had gone home during the game.
“It’s been hanging in there air,” one source said.
Another source told cleveland.com that virtually everyone on the team was called out at some point during the meeting.
The Cavs are in near disarray, losers of 10 of the last 14 games. They’ve lost their last five national TV games by 89 points, and have another one Tuesday against the San Antonio Spurs.
Love played just 3:04 against the Thunder and watched most of the first half from the bench. He went home after halftime and was not at practice Sunday.
ESPN is reporting Love defensed his absences Monday. Love is averaging 18.6 points and 9.4 rebounds per game, but his shot attempts have dropped since Isaiah Thomas joined the lineup.
Love told reporters after Monday’s practice: “Just got super dizzy, disoriented, didn’t feel right. Went to the bench and we both agreed that maybe we should just give it a few minutes and then just didn’t feel right at halftime. Put Tristan in to start the second half and went from there.”
“Hopefully I see us pushing through that here pretty soon,” Love said.
Also, Cavs coach Tyronn Lue missed Monday’s practice for a doctor’s appointment. He missed a game because of an illness last month.
