Wendy Raquel Robinson Talks ‘The Game’ Season 8 With Us

14 Jan, 2015

The anticipation for the new season of BET’s hit show ‘The Game’ started almost immediately following season 7’s dramatic finale that left Chardonnay (Brandy Norwood) at the alter and Tasha Mack with a newborn baby girl, Kai.

So what can fans expect this season? “A rollercoaster ride” according to Wendy Raquel Robinson whose character Tasha Mack has been a series favorite since the show started in 2006.

“The show picks up exactly where it left off last season. We pick right up on that rollercoaster ride and take our audience with us,” Robinson told The Trending Report.

Fans followed the highs and lows of Mack’s love triangle with Pookie (Rockmond Dunbar) and Rick Fox that ultimately resulted in Mack becoming a new mother. Where to go from there was a question not easily answered.

“We talked almost every day in terms of what is this really like when you decide to surrender everything for a child that came so unexpectedly. Not really even knowing who the father was and having to deal with those issues that really made no sense at that stage of my life,” Robinson recalled.

“We explored a lot of different things including Post-Partum depression. I’m second guessing what am I doing being in my mid 40’s having a child… still having my career and still wanting to be that independent woman that I had been for the majority of my life. It was challenging. It really was,” She said.

DNA results proved Pookie to be Kai’s father but will he be involved in her life? “He’s definitely there when we first come back but he takes us on a ride because he has his own agenda as well,” Robinson said. “He wants to be a part of our child’s life so much so that it creates a huge conflict for us. And he doesn’t want the child to grow up in San Diego either.”

Adding to the dynamic is the other man in Mack’s life-Malik.

“Even though he’s in his 30’s, He needs attention to,” Robinson said.   Being a manager and a momma and not being able to give him the attention he needs kind of creates its own inter conflict between the two of us. We have to deal with it in terms of redefining our relationship and how we fit together with the new baby.”

Does this mean the official end of Rick Fox? “I think so,” Robinson said. “However we do have season 9 and some uncharted territory. Rick definitely makes an appearance and its some good stuff there. He creeps back in. He definitely creeps back in.”
