Twitter, for The Win!

25 Apr, 2017

Sometimes Twitter is behind some truly hateful ideas, and then sometimes, the micro-blogging site comes up with an idea so genius, it’s a wonder it isn’t already a reality.

That’s what happened last week, when a social-media user tweeted a picture of Rihanna and Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o sitting side-by-side at a 2014 Miu Miu fashion show and commented how the duo looked like a Hollywood action movie waiting to happen.

The photo, taken during Paris Fashion Week three years ago, shows RiRi in a cool, pimped-out multi-colored coat, red lips, black shades and stylish bangs as Lupita keeps it classy and chic with thick frames, bejeweled collar, dangly earrings and modest top. Because of the two contrasting outfits, this particular fan assigned the “Love on the Brain” singer the con artist role while the Black Panther actress plays her intellectual counterpart who devises a crafty plan.

The tweet went viral, causing Lupita to tag Rihanna and suggest, “I’m down if you are.”

A few days later, on Sunday, the singer replied back saying, “I’m in Pit’z.”

With the characters already set, the Internet worked to fill in the writer and director role for this dream-team film — suggesting Insecure mastermind Issa Rae and Selma director Ava DuVernay respectively.

Both replied with their consent, and Rae even teasingly told Vanity Fair she’s totally onboard with the project. “Oh I’m definitely going to shoot my shot,” she states. “This is an amazing opportunity and all credit to Black Twitter.”

Codeblack Films, from Lionsgate, wanted in on the project as well and tweeted their deep interest in the totally made-up film.

All silliness a side, who wouldn’t want to see this amazing motion picture? Maybe this film will get a green light after all this Twitter planning…
