Blackhawks Star Patrick Kane Wins Another Championship

Chicago Blackhawks star winger Patrick Kane picked up some hardware this summer by leading team Milli Vanilli of the Buffalo-based Fattey Hockey League to a championship and earning MVP honors in the team’s title game.

Buffalo-born Kane scored 14 goals in the summer beer league while teammate Vincent Scarsella — a New York native who played for the ECHL Utah Grizzlies last year — led the Fattey League with 25. En route to the finals, Milli Vanilli defeated Bananarama and Whitesnake before snuffing out the Pet Shop Boys.

The 25-year-old Kane appears to have stayed pretty grounded in the wake of receiving a monster eight-year, $84 million contract extension.

“When I go back home, it’s exciting for me and my buddies to play hockey,” Kane told ESPN. “It’s something we do for fun.”

A two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Blackhawks and winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy for MVP of the the 2013 finals, Kane still looks pretty darn happy to hoist that mini cup.

“I love the game. I love playing it whether it’s in the NHL or in a little men’s league during the summer,” Kane said. “It’s obviously not all the same, but it’s still the game of hockey. You can enjoy that way.”
